"What a marvelous old center! Now I know why it is on Unesco list. Every street, every corner, always have some detail that surprises us. We can see in fact very old building, yet, well maintained. Be prepare to climb some streets if you to see them all."
"What makes St Mary's (Marienkirche) an emotional experience is to see the broken bell and pictures of devastation when much of it was destroyed in the war. The rebuilding was a work of love by the people for their church, making it as much like the old church as possible. The size and decoration mak..."e it awesome and the history going back 800 years is an interesting story. There is lots of info in English. This was the Church where Buxtehude was organist and composer - he was the master organist that Handel came to see and Bach walked hundreds of miles to hear and was greatly influenced by. The surrounding buildings are also attractive and worth seeing, This church and Lubeck definitely worth a day trip.

"When you travel in Northern Germany you should not miss to visit Lübeck: Great architecture and nice little alleyways and lots of places to see e.g. Marienkirche, Heiligengeist-Hospital and last but not least Cafe Niederegger."
