What travellers are saying
- IlovetravelBirmingham, UK372 contributionsThe Alter Strom is the inland waterway cutting thru town and once was the only shipping route to Rostock. Today there are many sightseeing boats vying for your custom. It's a lovely walk alongside numerous cafes and bars.Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IlovetravelBirmingham, UK372 contributionsWe just visited for the day off a cruise ship slightly out of season but it was a lovely wide sandy stretch of beach with so, so many beds! The beach is also just a 10 mins walk from Alter Strom.Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Malcolm and SStroud, UK1,153 contributionsA lovely resort, well served by transport links, with a rail station adjacent to the seaport and town centre. We liked the easy access to the beach, the fish quay and restaurants along the river estuary. A charming town that must come alive in the summer season - we visited in mid-September.Written 30 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chrissieb94Dorset, UK2,098 contributionsThe church stands in the Kirchenplatz in the centre of the town and was consecrated in 1871. It is the Evangelical Lutheran Church and has maritime links. The red brick church stands on the site of a 13th century church and contains some artefacts from the earlier building.Written 11 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Was fun to watch and the ships, ferries and private boats using the waterway.

- dbinhou7511Houston, TX1,652 contributionsStumbled across this sculpture and water feature while walking the streets of Warnemunde. The plaque describing the sculpture is in German, so didn't understand everything about it, but found it interesting.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Really enjoyed this little beach town !!Written 18 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This delightfully busy place had a lovely little museum of an old wooden fisherman's house. I was fortunate to visit on a open day and see the house and garden for free.
The little museum was very interesting and informative about how the fisher folk lived, worked and the town's local history. I found out that to stop fire spreading between the wooden houses in olden times the townspeople insisted on a standard fire break between the houses. Apparently that distance was the amount of space needed for a pregnant cow to waddle between the houses without touching them!
I spent an enjoyable time here and would recommend a visitWritten 31 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice old houses with a lot of decorations and colors. Mostly restaurants, snacks and souvenir shops. I would not go back to visit again.Written 21 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
