Loch an Eilein (loch of the island) with its 13th century island castle, was voted Britain's Best Picnic Spot as part of the celebrations to highlight the 10th anniversary of Warburtons National Bread Week which took place in May 2010 - a big thank you to everyone who voted. Step back in time and retrace the steps of the Highland cattle raiders as you enjoy views of the dramatic and mysterious Highland castle and enjoy the exceptional wildlife of the forest including Red Squirrels and Scottish Crossbills. You can enjoy some of the best low level walking in Scotland. Sheltered by ancient pine trees with views of the mountains, the path round the loch is suitable for motorised wheel chairs, off road buggies and is part of the 50km Rothiemurchus way marked network of paths.

Once there, your guide will tell you all about the reindeer and you can walk amongst them, stroking them and feeding them by hand.Don't fancy the hill trip? For those less able, from Easter to New Year, we have a small group of reindeer in the paddock at the Centre itself. For younger visitors, there is a quiz, you can make your own badge, or make an antler headband.

The mountain gondola will transport you to 650m on Aonach Mor where you'll find the Snowgoose restaurant & bar with awesome views, mountain trails, kids play area, and the Mountain discovery Centre (summer only). In the winter, we're open for sledging, skiing and boarding. There's biking for all in Leanachan forest, plus bike wash, bike hire and a skills park. The NEVIS downhill track (with gondola uplift) hosts the Mountian Bike World Cup each year and there's the new red Route opening in summer 2009. We hope you love it as much as we do!
