Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington has many secrets to uncover. Here in one of Henry Holland’s first houses, you can explore the family rooms and walk in the servants’ footsteps down the back stairs, moving around the house unseen by the family and guests. You will find out what happened to William Kemp, LordCawley’s butler, and discover the anguish of a grieving mother during the First World War. Alternatively why not join a below-stairs tour to see if you would have liked being a servant at Berrington?

Historic Whitney-on-Wye single track Toll Bridge dates back to 1779. One of just a few remaining in England. Two earlier bridges were washed away by the strong river currents and a stone and timber construction was built in 1797.Open 365 days a year with parking and riverside picnic area. Come and fish, canoe, picnic or camp with us. Perfect setting for camping part way through your canoe trip - on the banks of the River Wye at Whitney Toll Bridge HR3 6EW. Very quiet and private small campsite with fire pit, direct canoe launch/land and parking. Four toilets available (clean and fully stocked with soap and loo rolls etc) plus clean drinking water shower tap (sorry no private showers). Breakfast and BBQs can be arranged - fully licensed so you can enjoy a chilled beer too.

"You would extremely hard pushed to find anything wrong with this site, the staff, facilities, pitches, location are first class everything clean and tidy ,just right,me personally ,I like it a little bit "rustic" ,as I said this site is almost to perfect.( it is a very easy going site)"
"We didn't do any of the walks, as we had only stopped for a brief visit on the way to somewhere else. That said, the property itself, although small was very interesting and well presented. Staff seemed to "know their stuff" and showed real enthusiasm and love for the history of the building and est..."ate in general. Would come back again to complete the walks.

"The walk from the office to the house is studded with the most gorgeous mature trees ; interspersed with grazing sheep and their attendant lambs [ those cute english ones with the black spot on their snoz ] This does not prepare you for the approach to the house; for as you come around the corner ab..."out 100 metres away, the immediate water garden and prolithic display of plants just about take your breath away. It is difficult to find words to describe the beauty of the place. The medieval house and moat gate are over 700 years old [ which make the place three times older than my country, Australia!! We just so enjoyed this property and would love to visit every day. When you visit we hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.
