The "Hisaku" festival on September 1st is the time to visit this shrine. There is "yabusame" ho..."rseback archery competition o this day too.

"Bus to Ikooji leaves from Masuda Station and costs 160 yen. The journey takes 7 minutes.
We caught the bus opposite the Masuda Grand Toit Art Gallery after having visited the Masuda Sunday Market. Trip from here takes 5 minutes. Cost is the same at 160 yen. Ikooji is at the end of the bus route.
Ikooji is an old, small, interesting temple. Inside is an impressive painting depicting the death of Buddha. The painting is about 3 metres square. In it, the body of Buddha is surrounded by people, animals and birds. All are crying.
It's worth seeing.

"Ikou-ji temple is a quiet place apart from the center of Masuda. Entering into the main building, I fully enjoyed the atmosphere of Buddhism building of middle age and its simplicity. They have a typical zen-style garden built by Sessyuu, a famous Buddhism priest-painter of 15th century. It was j..."ust quiet, but a cherry blossom which is the sole brightness amongst the garden. The cherry blossom is seen only in end of March or beginning of April.
