"This is a tsunami gate built for the Tokai earthquake of 20xx. The is a viewing platform at the top where you can take in some lovely views of Mt Fuji and the surrounding areas. It only costs 100 yen for adults and there is free parking in the port area."
"After our disappointing visit to Awashima the day before, we weren't sure what to expect at Sea Paradise. It turned out to be much more lively though, with better-maintained exhibits, animals that performed their tricks well (if you're into that sort of thing) and actually some crowds - no ghost-tow..."n atmosphere at all. In fact, at one point I was surprised to see it was built in around 1977, it feels somewhat newer than that (although there's some obvious signs of age around).
Dolphin show was one of the more impressive that I've seen, particularly the lady surfing on the back of dolphins and high jumping off their snouts. Between shows, it is possible and relatively cheap to take a small row boat ride in the dolphin pool and to pat them (my daughter tells me their skin feels like eggplant). The more adventurous can also be in the boat during one of the dolphin shows, which I've never seen at an aquarium before.
