The dam is enormous; you can see it at the top of a short walk to the viewing point where you look out at the flood plain which looks like a small sea. Some interesting exhibits about the place, and immediately adjacent is a small botanical garden that apparently features an outstanding musical fountain display. I was there to early... More

But nevertheless a great place to spend an evening. The reservoir is huge and beautiful, and you can see far away town lights at the other end. There is also a large garden on this side of the dam, with an illuminated disco fountain and aquarium. Aquarium isn't maintained so well, but not bad either. Even though the main areas... More

Tunghabhadra river blows you away by its sheer size; it looks more like an ocean. The sunset is pretty; the walk to the dam is pleasant. It can get crowded; so avoid the public holidays

Built on the tungabbhadra river, this is probably one of teh largest reservoirs in the country. Good for a late evening visit when the sun is setting. The view from the temple is better than the observation deck. Bus rides to the temple is just 20 INR. Good way if you have a few hours on a afternoon to kill... More

If one keeps the expectation low, this is a good place to spend an evening and watch sunset. One needs to walk quite a distance to reach the dam area from the parking lot. The garden is not maintained very well. Definitely not a "must visit" place.

The musical fountain in the garden is worth the visit. The show is short & entertaining. They play a mix of Kannada & Hindi songs. Rest of the garden is average. If you have kids, then they may enjoy the place due to loads of space to run around.

Went there a bit late in the evening. It's a nice place, and they have a musical fountain at around 7pm or so for 15 minutes which is good. Only dislike is on the way up, if it gets dark, there are no street lights and we had to switch on our mobile flashlight to reach our way up which... More

Be prepared to walk upto the dam. Visitors are not allowed on the dam so you get to see the water from the confines of the park. The gardens with musical fountain is nothing to write home about. This place can be skipped.

Good to see the huge structure and the well maintained gardens, reduced lighting in the evening near the Music fountain makes you feel bit nervous. Unfortunate that they do not allow to walk across the dam.
