We used our GPS to find Newgrange and unfortunately we were routed to the historic site not the visitor center. You CANNOT buy admission tickets for the historic site unless you go to the visitor center. My groups have always felt rushed at Newgrange. This year it seemed even worse. I understand and respect that thousands of people want to experience Newgrange, but it is doing a dis-service to rush people. I was also disappointed by the closure of the fine gift shop. This ancient archeological site is amazing and well worth a visit. It's well organized with comfortable buses making tfrequent trips between the two sites. Newgrange is a passage tomb constructed 5000 years ago and was at the heart of an advanced Bronze Age civilization in the Boyne valley. Very worth while.

Visiting the ensemble at Brú Na Bóinne is very interesting, especially if you're keen into history. The guides are very knowledgeable and passionate about their work, so you're bound to learn a lot about the ancient Neolithic people and how the mounds at Brú Na Bóinne have been used over the past few centuries.
