In case some one is close to Chidambaram, it is worth travelling another 20-25 kms to the Pichavaram Mangrove Forest. It is advisable to take a row boat and not a motor boat as the experience will be better. The Restaurant in the Pichavaram rain forest is also quite passable - the vegetable thali was quite good

This place just has boating. Row and Motor boat. Takes one hour for the row boat ride for two hundred and nine hundred for a 4 hour motor boat ride. Nice experience, takes us inside the deep mangrove forest.

A nice place to go to when you are in Chidambaram. It is only about 20 kms away from Chidambaram. It is however advisable to go for nothing more than a 1 hour ride. We went for 2 hours an soon realised that it got very monotonous and boring. A good place for photos though.

One of the places must to visit on a day trip to pondicherry. Route is well maintained and clean waters also.best is to take a row boat and go in a leisure pace.Food to be best avoided near pichavaram.

You get to see one of the wonderful mangrove forests. Amazing experience when you are in the dense forest. If you are vigilant, you can watch lot of water snakes wrapped to the roots of the mangrove trees. Water depth is not more than 3-4 feet.
