We hired a shared tour from Quito to visit the spa for a day. I am glad I chose a day tour rather than an overnight stay. The spa is undoubtedly gorgeous but 3/4 hours in the hot springs were quite enough. I had enquired previously to book some of the massage treatments. I was advised to wait until the day... More

Don't miss this! Papallacta thermal hot springs are the nicest thermal springs in Ecuador and definitely worth a go! While they are not glam or luxurious, you can't beat the number of pools, the soothing heat, or the incredible scenery of the clouds coming down over the mountains beside you. You can play Goldilocks and decide which pool is just... More

So much fun! The hot springs were so relaxing! I got an andean mud wrap and that was phenomenal! The ladies of the spa are sooooooo nice and accommodating! They warn you not to jump into the cold water, trust me listen to this advice! Walking around in the robes completes the celebrity treatment. The welcoming staff is ADORABLE! If... More

This was a day tour arranged by the Hilton Colon in Quito. We went in March and took a private taxis to the springs and back. It is an all day event from Quito. The drive up and back is very scenic, some road construction on a few stretches but no show stoppers. We were suprised by the scenic hike... More

The natural hot springs of Papallacta are about 90 minutes to the east of Quito, in Napo province, the gateway to Amazonas. The scenery on the way there is absolutely beautiful, as the vegetation and terrain change. The springs themselves are in a park like setting surrounded by flowering plants, very clean and inexpensive. Adults $7.50, retirees with an Ecuadorean... More

It's good to take time for us and go out of Quito. But it has some disadvantages also. The roads to reach the place are awful, full of holes and after february 20th it will be a pain with the road of the airport until after Tumbaco. In the town, no more road but a trail during 3kms. 7.5$ the... More

We only got there after dark, which was perfectly fine, we almost had the place to ourselves. There are many pools of varying depth and water temperature so you can switch between very shallow and hot ones to deeper ones, where you can actually swim a few strokes. The pools are integrated into the green hilly landscape and even if... More

Termas de Papallacta was not only set in such a beautiful location, but the hot springs right outside the rooms were amazing. We unfortunately didn't get to spend too much time here, but we did get a chance to soak in the hot springs right after dinner, and that was definitely the best part of the night! The rooms were... Our adventure group hiked hard at altitude around the crater lake. Termas de Papallacta was our reward. We were dusty, dirty and happy. Jumping into the pools just outside our hotel rooms was a delight. Sitting in warm water looking up at the clouds kissing the top of the mountains was balm for the soul. The restaurant was very good,... More

Visiting the hot springs at Papallacta is a great day trip to take while one is staying in Quito. There are a number of warm/hot pools, and also a frigidly cold pool as well; great for switching back and forth, to really get the circulation moving!! Also, the river (don't know the name) flows right next to the hot springs,... More
