Caerau Uchaf has the highest private garden open to the public in North Wales at over 1000 ft. We are Toby and Stephanie Hickish, who started building the gardens from scratch in 1994. They were a sideline to our garden design business and have been added to over the years. The cafe has become a significant part of the whole thing and we aim to produce really good home cooked lunches as well as Stephanie's great cakes. We also sell gifts and plants.Caerau Gardens and Cafe is now open SEVEN days a week from 10.00a.m until early evening. We can provide early evening meals especially in High season. At other times booking is appreciated. « less

I found the pigsty by accident and I'm so glad I did. I was half tempted not to write a review so that it was a poorly kept secret, but Stephanie and her family deserve all the publicity they get. The pigsty is so different, but so well executed. A loft bed with a sauna at the bottom of the... More

My partner and I have just returned from an Easter week away in Wales at Caerau Gardens. We stayed in the Pigsty which is simply gorgeous with a sauna tucked away and a projector and screen for making a DVD night into a private cinema experience! We usually have arguments about how we manage our time on holiday but in... More

We first visited the gardens last August whilst camping in Bala. We expected to be there for just an hour or two but ended up staying all day. We were met by Stephanie who is very relaxed about how you spend your time. The gardens were great to explore and our children loved the trampoline and adventure playground. Be aware... More

We discovered this gem whilst looking for a suitable stop on the way to our hols to let the kids run off some pent up energy. We were given a very friendly welcome, served some beautiful homemade food and drink as well as plenty to see and do. The kids loved the trampoline as well as running around the hidden... More

On reaching Caerau Gardens, we were greeted warmly and it truly felt like we were arriving at a friend's home. The views were spectacular and the amount of tea that we got in one teapot was immense! My younger brother Joshua (10) was asked if he wanted to help feed the animals, which he loved doing. He has learning difficulties... More

This is such a hidden gem, absolutely beautiful gardens with many themes. My partner and myself along with our little boy(2.5) and little girl(18mths) had such a lovely afternoon strolling through the gardens and woodland areas. It was such an adventure for them and very stimulating for there senses with so many different colours and smells from the flowers. There... More

We wondered if this would be a good idea with 3 young teenagers in tow but we need not have worried. Thoroughly entertaining and very beautiful, there's something for everyone: woodland, beautiful shrubs & borders, lawns with stunning views and a sunken trampoline, a zip wire, croquet ( mallets provided), a log fort complete with working drawbridge! You can even... More
