This fort is beautiful outside with its carvings and ceramic tiles. Lovely fort gate. But the inside was very disapointing and if we had not had a guide who we shared with another couple we would have walked around inside mostly empty rooms and passages not knowing what room each room was for. But if you are in the area... More

The vast fortress towers over Gwalior with fabulous views for miles over the town and beyond. The highlights here are the 16th century Man Mandir palace, with its succession of courtyards, and the vast Teli ka Mandir which dates back to the 8th century. In addition there are other 11th century Hindu temples, a large 19th century Gurdwara, Jain sculptures... More

Gwalior Fort is atop a steep mass of sandstone and has been the location of imprisonments and battles. The walls stand 35 feet high and two miles in length, making it one of the more invincible forts in India. The medieval architecture is interesting as are the separate Teli ka Mandir (temple) and Sas Bahu ka Mandir. The road leading... More

We made quite a trek out of our way to see Gwalior Fort, and were very pleased that we did. The hill upon which the fort is built is quite imposing but entices one to get up there and explore. There is much to see, so allow yourself time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views. You may... More

A great view from the top. The best thing of all is to take the road down to see the magnificent buddha statues carved into the rocks. More

This must be visited while one is in Gwalior. The "light and sound show" may not be great but if you visit the fort during the day with a guide - history will come alive. Very good place for photography too. More

One of the best preserved forts I have seen. It is definitely worth hiring a guide to take you around to appreciate the history of this beautiful place. More

An excellent view of the city from the top, do take a guide as it is important to know the facts behind the fort, the battles and the history of different rulers. There are some interesting facts, excellent architecture and the light and sound show is impressive. More

The fort is absolutesly massive and whislt you can see it all in an afternoon, guides will often rush you round to pick up the next tourists. I'd suggest doing a guided tour and then eitehr heading back round afterwards to spend a little more time or coming back early the following morning to soak up the atmosphere a bit... More

We walked here from the interesting tombs of Mohammed Gaus and Tansen based in the old town. Entering through Gwalior Gate it's a pretty steep climb to the top. We paid 100R for a ticket which gets you into the Man Singh Palace, Sasbahu Mandirs and Teli-Ka Mandir. It's another 100R for the archeological museum and 250R for another couple... More
