Nice little pub for a drink and some grub. Used to go here every Friday and Saturday for a boogie too!

The wife being away I decided to eat in town this lunchtime. I decided to try the Jacobs
Post which only had a few patrons watching Italy v England rugby match.

the venus is reasonable comfortable. The menu was restricted to basic fare - burgers, etc. Nonetheless, the bacon cheese burger and rise that was delivered hit the spot. The young men behind the bar were pleasant and good hosts.

Recommended for a no frills, convenient and pleasant lunch visit.

I booked a table for three for Sunday lunch. There were very few people there, and on one person serving.
Our table was very sticky on the surface, so I went to the bar and asked for a cloth so that I could clean the table - even after cleaning it vigourously several times, and returning a rather dirty cloth back to the bar, when the table dried, it was still very sticky!!!!
This was a shame, as the food was not bad; however, we will not be returning.

Visited Jacobs Post with my partner and two young children for a bit of lunch a few weekends back. I have to say I was extremely impressed with the quality of the food, the new menu is lovely and a great price! The staff are very friendly and came back to check our food and see if we needed anything else. Was a lovely atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this place highly to my friends and relatives!

We've been going there for a number of years for our Christmas party lunch and it never disappoints. There were 30 or so of us and we had a really good time, the staff were excellent, the food good and it's excellent value. I'm sure we'll be back next year.

I came in and had to wait until the surly bar tender blessed me with her rude presence. No 'hello', no smile, no 'What can I get you?'. Seriously terrible. Faded furniture, terrible decor. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

A group of 40 or so of us went there for a mid week Christmas lunch. The meals had been pre-booked from a varied menu and we all enjoyed our meals. Some of the group had to wait a long time for our main course but the staff brought us extra bottles of wine as compensation even though we hadn't complained. I thought this was excellent customer service. The value is remarkable. I paid more than twice as much for a Christmas meal elsewhere which was no better. I'm sure we'll go there again next year!

Truly the most unappetising food I have confronted in years. Cod in batter that looked like a piece of deep fried brown carpet. The excellent front of house staff handled this very well though; they just looked at this sorry excuse for a meal and immediately gave me a cash refund. The bar staff were both blameless and embarrassed. The kitchen staff though; are they trying to drive their employers out of business. Finally, re drinks; a small bottle of Peroni for £3.95 tells you all you need to know.
