Coloane's main attraction in my opinion is the fact that it is an old part of Macau where time and people seem to have forgotten. There is really not much to do except potter around looking at the old housing settlements. If you are fascinated by how people live in a place where hodge-podge buildings pop out from everywhere, this... More

Quiet and old village in Macau. Coloane Village offers a range of unique cultural and historical sights as well as great food that you would enjoy. From temples to abandoned ship construction sites, to churches and old Portuguese streets and buildings, you can easily spend a day there relaxing in this quiet place, on foot or on a rented bike.... Another part of life in Macau, quiet, sea breeze and beautiful scenery. There is a famous shop called lord stow selling Portuguese egg tarts.

Stroll round this village untouched by the glitz of the casinos. The Macau tourist organization has a nice walk you can do in Coloane

Sleepy little town away from it all. Its easy to walk around for a few hours or half a day. See the quaint old architecture and wander the alleyways and along the water. Stop at the temple. Have coffee at a cafe and egg tarts at Lord Stowe's bakery. Then board a bus or taxi back to Taipa or Macau.... More

Well the best has to be Hac Sa beach which is safe for children and excellent for swimming. The reservoir behind the beach has a boating lake and wonderful country park walks with fantastic views and for a meal the Miramar restaurant at the north end is excellent in both food and value

I agree with the other contributors. If you have time you must visit Coloane and experience another side to Macau. In addition to the eateries in Coloane village and Hac Sa beach there is Cheoc Van Village and beach. On Cheoc Van there is a Pousada (inn) with a lovely restaurant with a terrace overlooking the beach. There is also... More

May it be its old houses, the local egg tart with the British influence and the restaurant just at the end of the alley in front of the egg tart place (Lord...) made our stay in Macao the most enjoyable. The restaurant am referring to is not on the on the square but on the side street opposite the square... More

Coloane is an island furthest away from Macau Peninsula and it only takes you 30minutes - 40minutes to reach if you take a public bus. It is largely uninhabited due to the terrain. What exist there are only a quaint and rustic village with plenty eateries and the famous 'black sand' beach, which is a total contrast to the peninsula.... More

If you want to see the real macau, you have to go to coloane. you can see old houses and buildings that are not well maintained with chipped paint, a bit dirty road, lots of automatic motorcycles, the hotels & casinos are the fake macau.
