The Tropical Spice Gardens is fanatstic to visit whether youre doing a cooking class or not. I went for a cooking class. There were specific dishes I wanted to learn which weren't all available on one day with the regular cooking classes so I opted to do a private class where I could be taught one-on-one. Firstly, the Tropical Spice... More

We took the guided tour with some other tourists and really enjoyed it. Very informative and interesting as you get to understand spices and herbs. A beautiful garden set on a small hill, a nice way to spend some time away from the hotel pool. We really love gardening and plants, but if you are not interested in knowing about... More

The cooking class starts off with the guided tour of the beautiful gardens. Our guide was really informative and explained different plants, flowers, herbs and spices found in the tranquil gardens. We then had some tea and moved into the kitchen which is new, clean, cool and well stocked. Azaza, our lovely informative teacher, taught us to cook Malaysian prawn... More

We have just had the most brilliant experience at the Tropical Spice Garden! The gardens themselves are an absolute delight and our guide was friendly, knowledgable and patient! After then tour we had an amazing cooking class learning to cook some Indian dishes using totally natural ingredients including spices from the garden. After cooking we got to stuff ourselves with... I had visited with my 70+ old aunt & another friend & we certainly enjoyed ourselves. The lemongrass scented insect repellent provided at the ticket counter proved to be useful, though you may want to bring your own along for reapplication or if you need a specific type for your skin (or if you're not crazy for the smell of... Due to change in travel plans we found ourselves with an extra day in Penang and thought the tour and cooking class sounded interesting. Patrick, our guide explained the spices, how they grow, and uses, including medicinal as well as culinary. Pearly, our cooking instructor taught us 3 Nyona dishes, and was a lively and informative teacher. The food was... More

I had an amazing time taking my cooking class with Pearly Kee. I never knew i could learn so much about cooking with fresh spices in such a short amount of time. She was an amazing teacher and guided our class through every step. The food in the end was phenomenal. This is a definite must if you are in... More

We dropped by this hidden gem in Penang after visiting the Butterfly farm (another great place to see). The thing that impressed me most was the lack of any commercial feel to the place. The gardens were well maintained and just a pleasure to be in. The surroundings were serene and beautiful. After wandering around for a while, you can... More
