The tropical spice garden feels more like a jungle than garden. Before going in, their ticket handlers will provide you with some oil to repel mosquitoes and other pesky insects that will try to make friends with you later. You should heed their warning and cover as many visible areas of your body as you can with the oil (don't... More

A pleasant place to spend a couple of hours but be prepared for some fairly steep paths. Interesting to see spices in their natural form instead of in a jar. Lovely selection in the shop and the smells are wonderful. Had lunch in the Tree Monkey restaurant, which was good and had a fantastic view.

Was not expecting much but was wonderfully surprised and the informative tour guide was fantastic. Very well set up and beautiful to walk around. Did not know there were so many health benefits related to spices. A must to visit when in Penang.

I loved the surroundings here - very humid and jungly - some lovely water features and a turtle tank. Maybe a little light on spice trees compared o other spice gardens I've visited around the world but good information about the spice trade in Malaysia through the ages. You can also book a cookery lesson. Have a cold drink in... More

This lush place is very well maintained. The highlight of our visit was our tour guide, Joseph. He is very knowledgeable and can answer any question about the gardens and much more, and is contagiously passionate about Penang’s local flora and its preservation. He works there on Mondays and Tuesdays.

It's a big garden, with some spices in pots and some planted in the ground. It was a nice to stroll around the garden and smell the spices. And that was it. I think maybe it would've been more enjoyable for us if we signed up for cooking class but it was too costly for our budget. There's a restaurant... More
