Our daughter loved this - it is a form of Treasure Hunt whereby you mark on a map the location of the various life-sized painted cats that are hidden around the village. We also got caught up in spotting the cats. Some of the colours were quite similar which made them a little hard to identify.

The woman in the centre was very nice, but didnt fancy forking out £9 for a 3-4 hour walk around the village. im sure it was lovely but in my opinion there are a lot of better places in the area to spend 4 hours exploring. If you have children 5- 12, may be worth you going to look for... More

This is an addictive activity! First of all, head to the Wilcat Experience shop on Newtonmore Main Street (across from the Post Office), buy your pack which includes everything you need and off you go. Staff at the shop are very welcoming and helpful. My husband and I started 'Wildcat Hunting' on a snowy day about two years ago and... More

This was our 3rd year of doing this and still love it! Unfortunately didn't manage to find all the cats this time (couldn't find 3!) but really enjoyed doing it yet again! Hope to find the missing 3 next time!

Another hidden gem in Newtonmore. A wee visitor centre in the main street is the start of a great day of walking. Here you collect your wildcat guide and then you set off around the village trying to spot over 100 elusive, colourful decorated wildcats. If you scorrectly spot 25 cats, you receive a certificate, 50 a prize. You can make... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this with our two little children. The great thing is that this helps you explore places in Newtonmore you might not otherwise see. You can see how this has helped maintain a sense of pride in the community. The Wildcat Experience shop was staffed by a lovely lady who gave a certificate to our daughter for finding... More

We only had a few hours in Newtonmore and we had contemplated doing the Wildcat Trail around the outskirts of the town, however when we visited the Wildcat Experience we opted for that instead. We had great fun meandering up and down the streets and backlanes of Newtonmore and successfully spotted 25 cats in the short time we had available... More

We're just back from a week in Newtonmore and had a ball trying to find all the painted wildcats around the village. We only managed 65/110 but saw parts of the village we'd never have gone to. We were a party of 6, with 4year old twins, a teenager and 3 x40ish year olds. This is something everyone can join... More

Before I start my review I should explain what this is! Basically there are models of wildcats all painted differently hidden around Newtonmore. You buy a pack at The Wildcat Centre for £7.99 which is a bag (which can be kept), pen and booklet with pictures of all the cats in it. Each cat is numbered and there is a... More
