There is nothing much to see unless you are temple fanatic. This can be skipped unless you don't have anything else to do in Mahabaleshwar.
This temple is pretty old ,is situated in old Mahabaleswar. Here the self-originated lingam was Rudrakshya shaped ,that means it looks like the outer covering of Rudrakshya. The lord appeared there to punish two demons Atibala and Mahabala . We can distinctly see three sutures on the lingam as part of Brahma and Bishnu also. We can also visit the... More
the mahabaleshwar temple is truly good! we visited the temple on a hot and sunny afternoon in November, and yet the water flowing into the pool was surprisingly cold! you can fill the water into bottles as well..this temple is dedicated to the five rivers that are originating here.. around this temple there are two other temples as well..
In addition to the mahabaleswar temple and panchganga mandir, there is krishnadevi temple, which is less than 5 minutes walking from the car parking of mahabaleswar temple.. Travellers should not miss this ancient temple. Most of the tourists do not visit this temple. This is the most ancient man made structure we have seen in our life so far.
Visiting the Siva temple makes one feel blessed. The atmosphere of the temple premises is so pious that one can feel the vibes and positives the instant you step into it. Must visit for everyone in Mahabaleshwar
Amazing piece of History. Further up is another temple which is the source of Origin of Five rivers . The water flowing is too cold and its surprising where does the water come from at this heights
This is located in Old Mahabaleshwar if you are not familiar with the place. The temple itself is very old and the place around it resembles an old town. Great place to click pictures.

It has a small hole at its centre from where devotees can see the top of the Atmalinga. The deity, a carved stone image of Lord Shiva, is also deified here in a standing position and has two... More
The history of this temple is astounding as it goes back to 11th century. The syambu lingam (deity) is very unique with lord vishnu and brahma being part of them (as told by the poojari inside the temple). The day we visited was normal and not so crowded like other temples., and so we could get the Darshan with ease... More

The temple has a mythological history of Lord Shiva appearing there to destroy Atibala and Mahabala, two demons, hence the name Mahabaleshwar. Just behind the Mahabaleshwar temple is the Panch Ganga... More
