733 acres of pure beauty and history. I have taken my kids there over the years for all sorts of reasons. The kids had to do reports on all sorts of plants and trees and this was the place to look for them. Back in 1845 the Cincinnati Horticulture created Spring Grove and it has grown from there. We used... More

I do not find cemeteries to be pleasant places: rows of headstones crowded into small spaces, graves with plastic flowers, an atmosphere of gloom beneath a veneer of artificial cheerfulness and usually neglect. Sooner or later we all end up there, whether to say goodbye to friends and family or taken to our own eternal residence. Spring Grove is different:... More

There are so many reasons to love the historic Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum..... the flowers, the trees, the lakes, the fountains, and winding roads that take you on a journey through the history of Cincinnati and beyond. Spring Grove is dotted with graves of Civil War Soldiers, Cincinnati beer barons, ancient mausoleums and so much more. It is rich... More

If you love to take nature photos, this is an AWESOME place to go. This cemetary is BEAUTIFUL. The lakes, geese, swan, various birds, trees, rose garden and they plant and constantly exchange out all sorts of flowers. I got some really good pics this year of their tulips by the lake with the fountain.

Simply beautiful place to walk for as long as you want, through lovely hills, ponds, historic structures and of course the historical markers. Just find an easy way to remember where you left your car! This place is huge. Just love it.

This cemetery contains over a thousand non-native species laid out along lakes and fountains in hill setting. Some civil war notables are buried here, including Fighting Joe Hooker and Salmon P. Chase, Lincoln's Secretary of the Treasury and later Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Competition among Cincinnati families have left some amazing monuments. If you are looking for specific... Living in Cinti my whole life I've heard of Spring Grove Cemetery but never went until last year. I thought it odd to visit a cemetery without any relatives there. However, this was an absolute beautiful place. We were able to take some beautiful photos and I even saw a family taking some first communion photos with their daughter. Beautiful... More

Spring Grove Cemetery is a very large cemetery that is full of history and is beautifully landscaped. Among the people resting here are Jesse and Hannah Grant, the parents of President Ulysses S. Grant, Salmon P. Chase who served as Treasury Secretary under Abraham Lincoln and later the 6th Chief Justice of the U. S. Supreme Court. Also resting here... More

We love coming to Spring Grove. There is much to love about this place. It is steeped in history. You can walk through many decades of Cincinnati and American history by looking at the tombstones and getting tour information from the extremely helpful staff at the visitor's center. Makes one appreciate the role this city has played in the evolution... More
