This is a wet trail and one should wear appropriate shoes. They are redoing the trail. It is being upgraded. They are putting down a gravel path. The falls are beautiful.

Loved hiking, but hiker be warned: the trail is VERY muddy and buggy. They were in the process of repairing the trail so there were several parts that were washed out. Be prepared to wash your sneakers.

We took the #5 Honolulu bus here which drops you at the end of a residential area just before the entry. The bus runs about once an hour! So time yourself accordingly. We went here to see the waterfalls like everyone else. Word of warning it is very Muddy and there are mosquitos everywhere! After hiking to the waterfalls, I was not gobsmacked, it was an ok waterfall but I could have easily avoided it.

You can take the bus, or drive if you rented a car, but either way get up to see Manoa Falls, a short hike just beyond a residential area outside Waikiki and Honolulu. Loved the trees and foliage. I would suggest good foot wear. It was very muddy in spots. Over all we did enjoy the hike. 4 and 6 year old grandkids had a great time aswell
