Stopped by here just to look and realized there was a trail to the top (I'm from the east coast and didn't do my homework ahead of time). Once I got my information together and mapped it we paid the $5 fee to park for a few hours and started our trek. Purchase water at the truck to the right... More

Good exercise and great views. There were dark tunnels to walk through and some of the old structures intact at the top.

I think this is one of those "must-do" items when staying in Waikiki. The walk up IS a bit of a work-out, but less than I expected it to be. Consider early morning, when it's cooler, or late afternoon, when a good bit of the hike is in the shade of the crater rim. A bottle of water would've been... More

This is one of those easy hikes with a big pay off but try to go early or later in the day when the sun is not at it's strongest. You get a great view from up there. Make sure you take some water with you.

The walk and climb are a little strenuous and the path was quite busy when we went, but the views from the top of the crater are amazing!

You get to go inside a crater of an extinct volcano and then, if you go to the top, you have a marvelous view of Honolulu. It is definitely worth visiting!

Walked up there & caught a trolley another day. Catch the Green trolley, as the tour is informative & gorgeous view + there is a walk to also do in the volcano crater, to somemore good views.

Walked to the top of the trail, be warned it is not an easy walk if you are very unfit, overweight or have a disability, but the view from the top is amazing ..... we were lucky it was windy so kept the temperature down, but could be very hot at other times, so take lots of water.

Diamond Head for me was better to look at from afar. Once inside of Diamond Head, it is a moderate to difficult hike depending on temperature and prior hydration. It's very arid, as you're inside of an extinct volcano crater. The higher you climb, the better the views become from all directions. We went in May, so it got to... More

The hike was not too vigorous. You get great views of the crater as well as the city of Honolulu and ocean. There is a shaved ice truck outside for a reward treat. We last came here in 1998 and bought T-shirts that said "I hike Diamond Head" from a vendor. Now, we had to go to town to the... More
