If you are up for a 60-90 minute walk and have good shoes try this place. At the far end of Sitka so you must have a car.

This is a wonderful trail located at the end of Halibut point road, it is mostly flat, so most anyone can handle it, there are scenic outlooks and one is close to the water at all times.

We had read about the Herring Cove Trail here on TripAdvisor and decided to take a cab out to try it. Our driver warned us of bears in the area and we did see evidence of recent bear activity (large feces on the trail). Despite the danger, we greatly enjoyed the hike. There were several waterfalls and many nice views... More

The scenery was more than one could ask for with such an easy hike. When the taxi driver brought us she said she loves the trees there and I thought what could be different about the trees. Well they were huge and the lighting and all through the woods just made it amazing. Lots of water falls and the walk... More

I liked this trail a lot. One of my favorites quick trails located in Southeast Alaska. I took my five year old and he made it though he was a bit worn out at the end of the loop. That was the plan, so I am glad it worked. Not too tough for him but tough enough he felt it.... More

There are so many waterfalls, mossy vistas, the gorrgeous Beaver Lake Trail at the end of Herring Cove which you must do, that it is beyond describing other than majestic! The landscape arcitect who planned this... More

I was with my 30-year old daughter, who is in much better shape than me. The trail is pretty steep at the beginning. I'm going to try it again when I'm in better shape!
