I saw my first opera in Santa Fe in high school, and then I worked as a volunteer usher for two years. That experience allowed me to enjoy many more operas than I would have been able to afford, and, although I didn't have a seat of my own, I was thrilled to sit near the petunia beds and listen... You'll see all sorts, folks dolled up in Lucchese boots, then folks wearing Birkenstocks. The high enders as well as the contra chic. The performances are world class, as is the tail gating. Not so much out of the back of an SUV like you'd find at a Bronco's game, but typically next to a collectible Ferrari. Great people watching... More

lots written, not much to add, but the experience is really wonderful, if you are a fan or not - the people, the place, the simple elegance of the event, the performance - all of it. We go every year and love it - a grandchild who reaches 12 and can stay awake - but not necessary for having a... More

Besides the innovative to standard operas beautifully cast and performed, you will be awed by the opera house's setting in the mountains. Excellent sight lines from all seats. Amazing savings if you get a subscription, which offers many choices. Bring a jacket because temperatures drop significantly at night. A very short drive from downtown Santa Fe, or take the sensibly... More

It's not New York City, but it is worth the visit. A nice way to spend some quality time. I recommend a trip here, alone or with family or friends

An amazing mix of people attending opening night of the Opera with everything from ball gowns to shorts and running shoes. Looking through the back wall into the west as the sun went down and the music was soaring, was an unforgettable experience. Do it if you get the chance.

It's almost (but not quite) not about the opera! The setting is unparalleled, as is the experience. Dress up, but warmly! It gets cold up there even in the summer.

This is a Santa Fe MUST SEE! Absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking and stunning! I am not a huge opera fan, but they are pretty amazing. There are often concerts here before and after the opera season that are generally pretty great. We saw Al Green there once...AMAZING!
