The collection is very strong in 19th to mid... More

The McNay is a beautiful home that has expanded over the years to accomodate a growing collection of artwork. Styles included impressionism, post impressionism, modernism, american modernism, sculpture, theater arts (costume), medieval and renaissance, and southwest art. At the time of my visit, the changing exhibition was Real/Surreal - Selections from the Whitney Museum of American Art. Noted names I... More

Not a person who visits museums on a regular basis, I was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful museum that was recommended by our Bed & Breakfast hosts while visiting the area. Never have I ever seen such works of art by world known artists, past and present. We ended up spending several hours enjoying the art and the beautiful... More

Former mansion with fabulous grounds, fountains to stroll. The museum has an eclectic collection worth a visit. Fabulous inner courtyard. A very pleasant afternoon outing.

A wonderful afternoon spent wandering this mansion turned art museum. Ms. McNay was a colorful and interesting woman who left San Antonio a priceless legacy of art and her beautiful home. It has been expanded over the years, with a more modern addition for showcasing traveling exhibits. Be forewarned, there is no museum cafeteria to enjoy a respite during your... More

Since its early days in the lovely home of Ms. McNay this museum has always delivered a wonderful museum experience. Now with the Tobin wind & the Stieren Gallery it can offer stunning shows, both major traveling shows & locally curated shows. When I visit the permanent collection it is like visiting old friends. The special exhibits in the very... More
