Having grown up in Boston, I'm a bit of a museum snob. But this is Tucson. They have great exhibits, just smaller. If you're a member you get opening invites, etc. Worth the investment!

MOCA is Southern Arizona's only museum devoted exclusively to exploring the cutting edge art of our time. Through varied programs, MOCA supports the critical interpretation and display of contemporary art in service to the community as a public trust. Since beginning to program as a museum in 2003, MOCA has presented the work of nearly 250 artists and thinkers, 90% of them Tucsonans. MOCA is committed to thinking globally, acting locally and engaging with the ethics and aesthetics of contemporary life. MOCA is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, The Arizona Commission on the Arts, and its members.

We just got back from a visit to this little museum in down town Tucson. There were two exhibits, one conected to the exhibit at the Tucson Museum of Art, "Who Shot Rock and Roll". If you think garbage is an art form, this is the place for you. We were thinking exhibits like MOMA but this is extreme. I would be willing to guess 99% of people who go here feel ripped off. The large firehouse is nearly empty, except for a lone car in the middle and a few scant pieces of "trash"...

The new fire house location for moca is incredible! The Great Hall space is perfect for large works and the music performances are awesome. Congrats, moca!
