We have just been here in the expectaion of seeing and getting close to loads of farm animals but the reality is loads of chickens and not much else, three lambs who stayed in their shed a couple of turkeys and a goat in a field about 100 yards up the hill. We were in and out in 15 mins... More

We began visiting in 2008. No matter how many times we go, it is always good fun. Staff are fabulous and answer any questions my children throw at them. The extra things they put on are really good value, even in rain! Lots of free car parking and easy to push a buggy around a majority of the site. We... More

I am sorry that you did not find what we offer to your taste, we do operate as a Farm Museum and the animals that we have form only part of our Museum's offering which can occupy at least half a day's visit. At first sight unremarkable, this site leads one deeper and deeper into the industrial archaeology of a massively important industrial revolution site which had a string of separate industries spread along its length, mostly using the power from the stream which runs through it. The tour was very informative and developed the theme of interdependence of the copper from Anglesey,... More

Went here today with my 3 children and my grandparents. Really cheap to get in and there was plenty to do, could easily spend all day there. There was a really interesting guided walk and a demonstration of steam powered machinery which the kids loved. Lots of special events on throughout the year so will definitely be returning

Dear Angharad, Thanks very much for your review. Even with the weather, not quite what it should be in April, the Valley does present the visitor with a gentle retreat from the everyday. Spring is so very late this year, but I would hazard a guess that the bluebells this year in May will make up for lost time in... More

For a family, a day ticket may seem a little off-putting but give it a try! Much of the attraction is free of charge, the walks, the abbey ruins, the woodland and lakes. This could be sufficient for a day out with a picnic and children's games. The charged-for part is suberb, the adventure playground and maze, the farm animals,... More

Had a lovely walk through the valley, learning about the mills that were in use along the route as we went by. When we reached the bottom end of the Park, we reached Basingwerk Abbey which was the best part for me! Whilst this is a ruin, some of the walls remain and it is interesting to imagine what rooms... The Valley heritage park is a mix on ancient monument, farm park and industrial wasteland, all carefully and well packaged together. The major site of historical interest is Basingwerk Abbey and its ruins, A former Cistercian Abbey founded in 1131, the ruins are quite well looked after although some extra information would have helped non- historians. Next to the Abbey... More
