Kid friendly - well maintained. Nice place for family to mingle
Just an ok city park, Atlantans are very proud of it, but its not particularly large or pretty - if you are from NY it will pale in comparison to Central Park, and the same goes if you are from other major cities, but for a run or walk its pleasant enough.
Piedmont Park provided a great place for my children to play. The negatives are the parking lot is far from the playground area and the playground area doesn't have a shaded structure from the Atlanta heat.
There is always something going on at Piedmont park. You can walk, skate, ride bikes, play bocce, etc. There are two dog parks for large and small dogs. Restaurants are on three sides of the park. I went to the Paul McCartney concert at Piedmont Park and really enjoyed the venue. It is bowl-shaped so you can sit higher up than just ground level and see better.
