Took the "Gray Whale" cruise. We toured the entire Resurrection Bay. The captain and crew were friendly and liked to explain what we were seeing. We learned not only about all the wildilfe we were seeing but about the history of the Bay - like the role it played during World War II. We saw sea otters, Dall's porpoise, lots... More

Hello Wsleepy, We are so glad you enjoyed your recent Gray Whale Cruise with Major Marine Tours. Our captains and crew love to show off our "backyard" and share the beauty of Alaska with visitors and locals alike. One of the tricky things about living in a place with an abundance of wildlife is that "wild" sometimes means the animals... More

We took the 5-hour cruise because we had a 1-year-old with us and we weren't sure how he'd do on the boat. In retrospect, I'd certainly take the 7.5-hour cruise. The 5-hour is more about wildlife than glaciers; the glaciers you see on the 5-hour cruise are land-based glaciers, not the kind that calve into the ocean as you may... More

Must list animals: Humpback X 2- wave of flukes, splishy splash. Seals, sea lions, otters. Sea birds. Gnarly sailors. It was enough to be in Alaska, on a boat out to sea-then to see animals! I was not going outside-hubby clambered around with other photo nuts, and I listened to the docent. I read a book about Fox Island, while... More

We saw a sea otter, bald eagles, puffins, kittiwakes, stellar sea-lions, and lots of heavy water (10-foot swells -- this is September). The National Park Service ranger on board added a lot to the trip, and it was more about the wildlife, and less of the touristy narration than many such operators provide. More

We took the Wildlife tour out of Seward. It was amazing. We went during the summer solstice and saw so many animals. We were greeted by a pod of 55 killer whales right as we were leaving the harbor to begin our trip. We were told by the captian that for the past three years this has happened on the... More

If you don't drive to Seward, and want the least expensive package to tour from Anchorage, take the Major Marine tour & bus package. Pick up your boat tour ticket at the Major Marine ticket office at the boat harbor in Seward . The bus tour guide pointed out some interesting sights along the three hour drive to Seward as... More

We spent most of our time watching a humpback whale. Our captain was an expert at knowing then they would surface and guessing which direction they were going. Also saw killer whales, sea lions, bald eagle, dolphins and sea otter. Very comfortable ride and boat. Three main places to watch from - top of ship with cover, inside ship with... More

My husband and I went on the evening 4 hour Wildlife Tour and added the All You Can Eat Salmon and Prime Rib dinner to our adventure. What a great night out! The food was super and once all of the passengers received their first helping, the buffet was opened up for seconds, thirds, fourths and yes even fifths. The... More

We took the three-hours Kenai Fjords Wildlife Tour, which is not listed in the flyer and comes w/o the extras like park ranger and meal option. Nevertheless, the crew was very committed and the captain did a wonderful job explaining the tour thru the Resurrection Bay and the wildlife, which included whales, sea lions, porpoises, otters and tons of birds.... We seen at least a dozen Humpback and Orca whales! The captain made sure we had time to see the wildlife. So much we were slightly delayed returning back to the harbor. The staff was great and very positive. If you are in Seward/Anchorage you must do this tour! I did the 6 hour tour. The boat is fast and... More
