While the trash strewn park area may be off-putting, the caves are very impressive and awe-inspiring.

If you are on vacation, Karla Caves should be first on your list of things to see in Lonavala. Lots of climbing, walking so come prepared with shoes, water and hat based on weather conditions.
Great view from the top..beautiful caves! Entry to the caves before 5pm. The Ekvira temple is small but deity is beautiful..in the evenings its less crowded hence peaceful. It’s not maintained well and the plastic waste littered on the hill is disgusting!
They have restricted the entry to the caves as the stairs leading inside have lost its strength. Now this place is not so appealing. The only thing here to see is the buddhist room with elephant pillars.
