We loved the space - and the great creativity juices of the students and the city. It doesn't take you too much time while it's not far from the historic district. We ended up being jealous of the students because they have such a wonderful campus!

Sorry but I was not impressed, I understand you can not compare it to MoMa or Uffizzi gallery, but can be a lot better. They have a beautiful building and great space, however exhibitions were not impressive, price was average for a museum this size, but there are wasting a lot of space, liked one or two pieces... But will...

One of the highlights of our Savannah visit! (A word of caution about this review. When we go to NYC we expect MoMA or or the Met; in Florence, the Uffizi; etc. In tiny Historic Savannah we we are delighted to find smaller gems – and we did.)
SCAD Museum of Art is a terrific little museum with some lovely,...

The museum building was beautiful, but the galleries and exhibits were small and non-impressive. I was hoping for something more inspiring but it seemed the selections were student work- like options and did not say much beyond visual appeal.
Maybe this is not my cup of tea. Love the building, like a few pieces, but perhaps I'm too practical. some of this art doesn't seem to show unusual talent. Remined me of my visit to SF MOMA a few years ago. Some cool stuff, sure, but a stack of newspapers in the corner or a stack empty boxes, or...

We recently visited the modern art section of the Smithsonian Art gallery but felt this was bigger, better and full of staff to assist. The building itself is great and as we were staying at the Hampton Inn it was right next door.
It was in transition in two wings of the museum which made for a very small showing, we made it through in about 10 minutes.

I have to admit that we have only been there when they have the free days but it is so upscale and completely different than any other museum in the city. We saw a black dress exhibit from designs of world famous artists. Gorgeous space and very proud that Savannah is home to SCAD.
This is one of the best adaptive reuse buildings that I have ever seen; it is a great use of space using some existing structures and incorporating them with wonderful new construction. The museum has on-going new exhibits and it is always interesting to go. One of my favorite places in Savannah
