We were part of a meeting of L3 in Washington that included meetings with faculty at Johns Hopkins followed by dinner at the Evergreen House and Museum now owned by JH but just next to Loyola University. The museum is a true gem and former home of the Garrett family who donated the home (husband the house, followed by wife... More

Evergreen House & Museum has to be one of the most under-rated attractions (for adults!) that Baltimore has to offer. Tours leave on the hour (you must be on a tour -- can't wander the house on your own), and can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on how many questions you ask your... In all the years that my daughter attended Loyola University, we never went next door to see the Evergreen Museum. We recently visited since she is now an alumni and we were so thrilled with this beautiful little museum. It sits atop a high hill as a beautiful mansion. We went when the house was decorated for Christmas and it... More

A mansion with a personality. Parquet floors, tiffany lights, antique pottery, and a private theatre stage. The house used to have a bowling alley. The highlight for me was the library with a view of the tiered gardens. An eclectic collection awaits. A fun and interesting hour and a half. They have a gift shop. Staff very nicely allowed us... Fun venue for a party in the carriage house. Best in the spring because I'm not sure if they have airconditioning.

This lovely home once belonged to a prominent Baltimore family who collected many things -- Japanese netsuke, paintings, and books. The library is a bibliophile's dream. It is absolutely beautiful. They also built a theater in the house which is stunning... and there is a bathroom made of gold... also, they often use the outside grounds for displaying contemporary sculpture...... More

We were passing through Baltimore and had a couple of hours to kill - so based on the AAA Guidebooks "Gem" designation, plus we generally enjoy touring historic and well-preserved homes, we stopped at the Evergreen Museum. Well worth the $7.00 (AAA discount) admission; beautiful historic home in a neighborhood filled with other well-preserved homes. The art collections inside are... More

Love this little known place - and it is such a treasure. I don't want to give it all away, but this is a very interesting place to tour, and you will learn a lot about Baltimore early history.
