Baltimore is famous for it's free museums. This place has some wonderful collections and the price makes it easier to skip in and out if you don't want to spend a long visit.

This museum has many interesting exhibits and it's free, what's not to like? Only downfall is that it is quite maze-like, but most museums are.

Admission is freeThursdays from 5 PM. We were staying at the HI Baltimore Hostel, and the museum is only 400 meters away. Because of time restraints, we were only able to see the East Asia, Egypt, Greek and Roman exhibits. I was surprised at the quality, having just visited the Deutches Landmuseum in Trier, reputed as the best Roman Antiquity... More

This is a great place and a real treasure in the city of Baltimore. I have gone their on multiple occasions and every time I enjoy it. Very nicely organized and not too overwhelming in terms of exhibits; they have a little bit of everything. All the artwork is nicely displayed and easily seen.

Definitely take advantage of the free admission to see one of the best East Asian collections on the East Coast.

I'm a local that grew up in Baltimore before it's Inner Harbor became famous. This was always a great place for me to visit. You'll find authentic exhibits from the time of the Egyptians, Old England, and beautiful paintings. It's located in the cultural center of Baltimore near the Washington Monument in Mt. Vernon, another great spot to visit. The... More

This is a must see. It's free, it's huge, and it contains a wide variety of collections. You will need more time than you think to see it all, and will enjoy it even if you're not an art connoisseur. We're so happy we came across this while in the area!

This is a hidden gem in Baltimore. The artwork is quite impressive, and the mansion is fabulous. And entrance is free! We especially liked the way the "salon" was exhibited. Just a delight.

I took a nice little tour around the world and through history at the Walters. The museum has such a wide-ranging collection of art and artifacts that it's easy to skip the stuff that you're not interested in and find something that you will like. The highlights for me were some of the 18th and 19th century paintings on the... More

The Walters is not the normal art museum; while it has plenty of great fine art, its collection is truly eclectic and contains mummies and other items from Egypt as well as antiquities from Rome, Greece, the Near East, Medieval weapons and suits of armor, natural history, Faberge Eggs and other jewels and so much more. The collection was put... More
