I hiked up to the site and really enjoyed visiting the outdoor displays. Will go back when I can see the entire facility.

Ranger Tad's (sp?) dedication to this site made this more than an educational experience. Learning the many facts would have interesting enough, but his telling of the story was heartfelt as well as expert.

I grow up in the area and had never been to the house. Starting with the ride up to the property, the trip was entertaining. Exploring the house with the guides in different areas was very informative and it is nicely preserved. The view from the property is wonderful and you can image what it was like before the surrounding... More

A shuttle bus takes you from downtown Danville to the house. No cost for the bus or visit. A friendly ranger was there to answer any questions about Eugene O'Neill. The home has a fantastic view of the whole valley!!

You must make reservations, and while some may see this as inconvenient, I do not. You meet the shuttle transportation at the San Ramon VAlley Museum where there is lots of FREE parking. The shuttle drives you to the site, lets you off and the ranger meets you and begins the tour. We were the only ones there that day--though... More

Very few locals know of or visit here. Excellent guides. BAcks up to part of the East Bay Trail system and you can walk forever from here. Beautiful trees, creeks, ferns, etc on the trail also poison oak! If visiting the Tao House and are a nature lover consider easy hike from rear of property.

Not the best place for young kids unless they are well behaved but certainly a great history lesson about an American Hero of literary arts. Also a great place to learn about Danville's history.

Eugene O'Neill spent his most productive years in danville, california, overlooking Mt Diablo. the government has preserved his house to educate us about the giant of american drama. the house is near hiking trails where we may have passed without knowing about this treasure. it is now only accessible via a shuttle bus from downtown danville, because the neighbors fly... We spent a rainy March afternoon at Tao House and even under not exactly optimal conditions, the scenery was gorgeous. The place sits right in the middle of a well-heeled suburb but the land has been so well conserved that you feel as if you are a thousand miles from the nearest town while you are there. The tour includes... More
