Well worth a visit, really well presented. Staff so helpful assisting in planning two days in area. The museum is compact and you pay $3 only if going down to 'mine', which is really well done

Great education. (April '08) Make you feel like your right in the mine. Nice stop in a small town that has had its boom and bust.

Grants is home to one of the largest uranium deposits in the world and was a major mining area in the late 70's and early 80's. This museum is a tribute to that history. The ground level is a traditional mining museum with maps and artifacts from the area. The underground mine level though is the real fun part of... More

The museum on the first floor showed the history of uranium mining in the area. However, to reach the "gem" of the museum, one needs to take the elevator to the "M" level (the "mine" level). This underground uranium mine was a reproduction of key mine areas and was narrated with recordings from retired miners who had worked in the... More

This self-guided tour of a uranium mind was very informative. We, throughly enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. Don't miss this sight as you'll be glad you did it.

This was really a fun experience! Not only do they have an impressive number of mineral/gemstone artifact, but they have videos you can watch that explain the history of pueblos, etc. Lots of educational facts about mining, too.

This museum had a fabulous rock and mineral collection, it told the very interesting story of the resilient town of Grants, and it had a "mine" that you took an elevator down into (I think it was a sub-basement, but that was just enough mine experience for my two sons). AN interesting bit of history

I've been wanting to visit here for ages, and now I'm midway on an epic 3000 mile roadtrip from Dallas to Los Angeles (the VERY scenic route!), my time has finally arrived. And it was a very good experience too. There are two parts of the museum - upstairs and underground. The upstairs part is free of charge, which comprises... More

Lots of education of the mines. Even the simulations felt so real. Learn about the past in mining here... Children will love it!
