We now offer featured rides with living historians in period dress who will tell you what life was like during the time of the Civil War. For those who love in-depth history, the Licensed Battlefield Guide is the only way to go. The battlefield story unfolds as you ride right where the soldiers were - experiencing the power of this important time in our nation's history from the center of the battlefield itself. Horse lovers and historians alike will enjoy this ride. Our horses have all been awarded healthy horse certification by a premier Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The horses are very friendly and mild mannered. We look forward to riding with you. My wife and I were very fortunate in that we got to experience the Gettysburg battlefield in a whole new way this past weekend. Confederate Trails of Gettysburg was offering a battlefield ride with none other than General Lee. We had a blast and learned a lot too! The General with a true southern gentleman with a wealth of knowledge... More

As an old married couple we are so very pleased concerning our excursion with Confederate Trails of Gettysburg. From the initial phone call to the after-the-ride good-byes we knew we chose a class act in C.T.of G. We have nothing but praise for our friendly, informative, and attentive guides Katie and Tim. Neither one of us is good with names... More

My husband and I experienced Confederate Trails of Gettysburg on our recent visit to Gettysburg, Pa. and it was the best time on our whole vacation. Two weeks before the trip, I called to ask questions about the horseback ride and the manager, Rachel, was extremely polite and informative. I told her what we were looking for and she suggested... The tour lasts for around an hour and you ride a horse along the confederate positions. The guides were great, especially Katie and Rachel. It was my first time riding, so my attention was divided between steering my horse and listening to the guide. The down side is that I missed some of the things the guide was pointing out.... More

My boyfriend and I went on a one-hour guided tour with Confederate Trails during our stay in Gettysburg and I can honestly say that the horseback tour is what 'made' or trip! The staff did us such a nice favor by squeezing us into a tour that was full when I explained to them how badly I had been looking... More

My husband and I recently enjoyed a ride through the battlefields with Confederate Trails. We had both been to Gettysburg before to drive and walk through the battle fields but being able to ride through them brought a whole new perspective to everything. The period dressed guide was able to provide information at every step of the way. He was... More

I can't say enough about how wonderful this family-run business is! The tour itself is beautiful, informative and fun, but the customer service is what really struck me! I was there with my three kids (ages 8 - 13) and the staff was so kind and helpful. None of us are experienced riders, and were a little nervous. The horses... More

We had a great experience with the Confederate Trails horse back ride. Our two children (9 and 12) are still talking about it. It made learning history so enjoyable for them. Being able to hear the guide through the ear pieces was like having a guide by your side for the ride. More

Gettysburg is brought to life by riding a horse along the Confederate battle line on Seminary Hill. The use of earphones to listen to the Confederate soldier guide while riding is unique and informative. Our leader, Sam retired from the US military. He is extremely patriotic and provided us with very interesting history on the weapons, their accuracy and how... More

Thank you so much for coming out to ride with us! We are glad that you had a great time. We agree that there is nothing like seeing the battlefield from horseback, and adding a bike tour sounds like a fun idea! We believe that the living history re-enactor adds a nice compliment to the battlefield ride, giving you a... More

We did this tour as part of our trip to visit Gettysburg University. It was one of the highlights of our vacation. The guides were friendly & helpful to "novice" horse folks. The horses were gentle and quite beautiful. It was obvious they were very well cared for. We had a very pleasant ride of about an hour which was... More
