A modern, first-class museum that captures the sprit of this momentous battle and chapter in American history. A beautifully produced film sets the stage for your tour, and the Cyclorama is a staggering work of art that depicts the fierce fighting. The displays are colorful and informative; this is what a museum should be! More

There is so much to see and learn at The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. Make this your 1st stop before touring the battlefields, as it will provide additional insight and build on your knowledge of the Battle of Gettysburg (if you belong to AAA, there's discounted admission for all in your group). There are 3 parts... More

They have all the information needed to get the most out of your tour. They answered all my questions & seemed to be knowledgeable about their job. They take it very serious, as they should. More

Overall, pretty good. Musuem is excellent, the gift shop is pretty good, too. Parking is a little tough and far away for busier times. More

Like the last review I would hIghly suggest early morning or late afternoon to avoid the huge school groups. Do the visitor center first. A great intro movie and Cyclorama (40 foot tall - 360 degree painting of Picketts Charge) followed by an excellent museum with great interactive exhibits. Before leaving the visitor center set up to tour the battlefield... More

We saw the video, the cyclorama and than the museum. There is a discount for AAAmembers. The video gives a good impression what happend. The cyclorama is okish but too crowded. Best was the museum where we spent several hours there reading almost every information we could get. It was moving and impressing. After that we toured the battlefield for... More

I imagine the visitor's center is always busy. We went around 3pm, so it wasn't too bad. There are several packages of activities you can do. We did the one that included the film (maybe 20 minutes, general overall of the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg, narrated by Morgan Freeman), cyclorama, and museum admission, which was $12.50 for... Tremendous! Fantastic! Phenomenal! This newer visitor center has done everything right. It offers a variety of ways to experience and learn about the Civil War through a movie, video presentations, artifacts, a museum area that is fascinating in information and presentation, a Cyclorama, a bookstore, etc. There is just no way to describe the tribute this community has bestowed on... Brand new facility. We were thankful we saw the video, Cyclorama, and museum before touring the battlefield so we had a better appreciation of the battlefield when we saw it. We'd recommend you do the same. Good for families- great for history enthusiasts. More
