We went to the Reading Market on a Monday and evidently that's a good time to go -- it was crowded but according to my stepson, absolutely nothing like the weekends. Go hungry - we didn't and wish we had. You can eat there at tables (picnic style in a food court -- very close together) or take it out.... More

On a last minute 24 hour visit to Philly, we made this one of our priority things to do. We were not disapointed! The market was bustling and we loved walking the many different aisles and seeing something new at every corner. We ate mid-day lunch at one of the sandwich counters, bought snacks for the road at various stores,... More

If you are going to be in Philadelphia, don't miss the Reading Terminal Market! There are tons (at least 70 or more) different vendors in this huge open space with everything from spices to candy to any type of prepared food you can think of! When you stop in don't forget to check out Bassetts for Philadelphia's oldest ice cream... More

This is similar to Pike Place Market in Seattle, it is busy but the variety is fantastic. Grab fresh flowers, fish/seafood, farm fresh produce, delicious bakery items, candies, an array of food stalls, for your breakfast/lunch/dinner, jams, honeys, nuts, cheese, ice cream... you name it. Be aware that Sundays the market does close at 5pm and The Amish do not... More

If you are on the hunt for an inexpensive meal then Reading will deliver. Best if you walk the isles before you commit to make sure you have got the best. They are a few places offering very good and inexpensive breakfasts eg pancakes $3.95. Worth a visit for the variety and atmosphere.

A guided tour that features the history of the market and dining in Philly is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I wasn't sure about paying the money for the tickets, but since we'd never been to the market before I thought I'd give it a try. It didn't take long for me to realize I made a good choice. A very interesting market with many colorful options. The prices are reasonable. There are a few spots that were filmed on the Food Network.

Crowded, noisy but fun market. Only drawback (and it took us days to figure out bizarre PA liquor/wine/beer laws!) was the only place you could get a beer or glass of wine had the least interesting menu, but eat there you must if you want something to drink. Still, enjoyed their fare (good sandwich, good beers) and strolling around to... More
