If large open spaces freak you out, this is not the place for you. We loved it. Nothing like it in UK. Entered from the south which was a good move. We stopped by the side of the road to take in the huge view and once away from the car we experienced complete silence. There wasn't a breath of... More

I wanted to go here simply because I had bread Scott Jurek's account of the Badwater 135. I was blown away by the sheer beauty of the landscape here. This is definitely a land of extremes, and my wife and I actually thought seeing Death Valley was the highlight of our trip to Las Vegas. We drove up to Dante's... More

We visited Death Valley in May. The mornings were cool enough for touring, but we had a problem with gnats in the early morning. You may want to bring insect repellant.

If you are on vacation in the south west and pressed for time, I would only recommend Death Valley once you've ticked off all the other attractions in the area. Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley are all in a different league in terms of awe-inspiringness. Definitely, if you are in Vegas and weighing up DV versus GC South... More

Went on a whim while visiting vegas, so glad I went. The drive to the valley was stunning itself and the valley itself was sheer natural marvel. We visited the crater and the salt basin only due to time constraint. No regrets.

Stunning views! Easy to get around by car--which makes a day or two at the park plenty of time for a visit. Try to make time for a stop at the Visitor's Center if you are interested in why Death Valley is Death Valley. Be sure to follow the warning signs to bring water and NOT to walk off the... More

My wife and I had an incredible Death Valley tour in April. It was conducted by a top tour guide, Ken Swanson of Pink Jeep Tours. Ken took us to many more places than most tours stop in Death Valley. He also took us to on-the-way sights like a ghost town and opera house. We recommend (1) everyone visiting Death Valley... More

We spent a full day in the park--getting up early to drive from Las Vegas and didn't get back until after dark. Spend time on the park's website plotting your route--we started at Dante's View, then hiked at Zabriskie Point and had lunch at Furnace Creek. Next we went to Salt Creek and saw the desert pupfish swimming along with... More
