It's a one way dirt road & we made it fine in our high clearance vehicle. We saw all kinds of different vehicles including rentals that were not high clearance. The photo ops are incredible & there are places to pull off the road because there is no room to pass. Crazy to think about the old days & mining... More

Take your time. Savor every curve. Yes, the road is bumpy and narrow. We went in an SUV but there was a guy in a Hyundai Accent (small and low clearance!) who was traveling the road at the same time we were. He had to get out and move a couple of rocks but he made it just fine. The... More

Most of the guides say 4WD recommended, but it's totally do-able in a 2WD high clearance (small pickup)! Go slow, it's much better, and less bumpy! In the narrow part of the canyon I saw several Big Horn Sheep!

Of all the sights in D.V. that we saw on our trip this was by far the best one. We spent about 3 hours driving through while stopping to take pictures here and there. The best part was Leadville and Titus Canyon itself which is only the last part of the drive as the rest of it was just getting... More

Accessible set of steep canyons that you can drive up to and then have a hike for as long as you want, or have a long drive all the way down.

It took us about 3.5 hours, because we were taking it easy and doing a lot of photography. We had wind, overcast skies, blue skies, white puffies, and more wind, but we loved it. We were fortunate that we went in April and had reasonably cool temperature. We drove a 4WD pickup and cringed wen young couples passed us in... More

This is not rated as a 4WD road, but there are parts of it that you would be very glad to have it (i.e. steep, loose surface with minimal traction). Plan on 2+ hours of amazing scenery with about 20 mins of bone-jarring washboard to get there.

My wife and I took the drive through Titus Canyon after starting the day at Rhyolite ghost town in Nevada. The views from the vehicle (a GMC Yukon for us) are amazing! We took our time and made many stops to snap some pictures. We parked at the second mountain pass on the drive and scrambled up the rocks on... More

Delighted we did this - we laughed all the way! Georgeous scenery and loved the driving. We didn't have many other vehicles and everyone was really friendly. Definite must if you are in the area.
