Great way to experience the history of the area - lots of unique treasures
Art in all it's forms is good for the soul. This is worth the trip to feed your soul.
The George Stuart miniatures rooms was a hit. The nearby fountain and park is also fun to add on.
Enjoyed a gallery full of originals by children's book illustrator Simm Taback, then was mesmerized by the delicate and stunning mannequins representing historical figures from the Victorian age. Exhibits change often, so when you go you'll see something different than what I saw; but I trust curators will give you something equally as enchanting as what I viewed.
It is worth the time to stop in and visit this museum if you are in Ventura. Be sure to see the George Stuart collection of historic dolls. It is located on Main St. near many restaurants, antique and thrift stores, movie theater, and the San Buenaventura Mission.
The newly expanded facility houses a wonderful collection of art and historical artifacts dating back to the native Indian populations of Ventura.
