This is a beautiful landmark of Central Park. We met some musicians playing underneath the walkway, took photos on the upper level, and enjoyed the entire scene.
The fountain is gorgeous but don't miss the other details! So much to see. The lower passageway is so beautiful. The day we were there we saw buskers that were playing classical music and singing opera. The sandstone carvings on the staircase and on the top of the terrace are lovely with a lot of details.
Charming place, this fountain and its nearby stairs and lake are amazing. Great for photos, to relax, to watch the ducks at the lake and to appreciate the view. Another great place inside Central Park. Buy yourself an ice-cream, sit by the water and enjoy the view!
Was just here again today - my favorite spot in Central Park. We did our engagement pictures here on a sunny day, while today was cloudy, yet regardless of the weather it's a really lovely spot. Be sure to check out Bethesda Terrace with the tiled ceiling and domed archway, it's so beautiful.
Another beautiful part of Central Park the angel on top of the fountain is beautiful and the area is magical , fountain even more special for as my then partner now fiancé proposed to me he said he chose this place as it was so special

There was a band playing in the covered courtyard when we first found her, which made the experience even happier....don't know who they were, but their rendition of "You Raise Me Up" was as good as any version I've ever... I have seen this on so many movies and it didn't disappoint in person. Walk the area, see the tiled roofs, note the architecture. Even grab coffee or a sandwich and enjoy Manhattan:)
Bethesda Fountain, as with many things in Central Park, has a cool historical fact to it. Up until 1860 NYC didn't have treatable water. Once the treatment plant came in, Bethesda (the angel of water) was place here to commemorate drinkable water for everyone. It's also a gorgeous plaza overlooking the lake where you can get a row boat. Central... More
The fountain was great, but even better were the singers in the covered courtyard near by. Accompanied by a double base they were amazing. Please tip them well they deserve it.
The fountain is located in the middle of the Park around 72nd Street. It is surrounded by other iconic parts of Central Park like Bow Bridge, the Lake, the Boathouse and the Mall and Literary Walk. You could spend the whole day in this area just people-watching. And you will see it all! It is beautifully restored, clean and safe.... More
