What a great Idea to turn an old rail line into a park. The flora and fauna change as you walk. A great deal of thought has gone in to this park and it shows. The city and river views are amazing along with the art sprinkled about.

The rave reviews are indeed justified, but go on a week day or a weekend morning. If the weather is good on weekend afternoons, you might as well be on a subway platform at rush hour.

While not really "in the sky" the elevated High Line gives pedestrians a totally new perspective of the nearby buildings and streets, while surrounding them with beautiful foliage and paths that soothe the harried city dweller. There are many benches and places to sit and appreciate the views, and the occasional outdoor sculpture adds a nice variety. This is a... More

Did this walk in a morning when it was already in the 80s, and there are some lovely cool patches of shade. It's just an amazing walk and lands you right by Chelsea market. Some fantastic photo opportunities and art along the way, or just a chance to sit and take in the fact you're surrounded by greenery yet above... More

We hung out at the High Line for a few hours, walking the line and enjoying the landscapes. Lots of seating, wide enough so you don't bump into anyone. We were there during the day but I can imagine how romantic it is at night. It's a fantastic concept. I just wish it was a little longer.

Go to the High Line. Don`t think about it - just do it. If you walk without no stops, it will take roughly 1 hour to walk on the High Line. But then you miss out... On the view, to sit on the benches and look at the beautiful skyline. The people excising, talking and waking. What is good with... More

Fantastic place a joy to walk along seeing the careful attention to detail in the planting. Just a pleasure to walk along and take a break from the hustle of the city.

This is a great escape for a picnic, grab a sandwich and take a walk along an old railway converted to a boardwalk, great short cut away from the crowded streets.

This is a perfect way to stroll through NYC from above the traffic and see the beautiful city. Thank you mayor for saving this rail system and turning it into green space. The landscaping is very well done, the performance areas are spread out nicely and vendor spaces are placed smartly. As you walk the High Line, you can sit... More

Rather than knocking down an eyesore, the planners/designers turned this elevated rail track to a new destination. Good weather is definitely a plus, you might want to avoid if it gets too hot or rainy/cold. It seems that this destination is always congested with tourists/visitors, so if you are looking for a peaceful stroll, this is probably not the place... More
