This was an amazing afternoon. The theater is beautiful, about a block south of Lincoln center. This group of amazingly talented and experienced musicians (the Bari sax player played with Ellington) treats this music as if it were holy. Wynton's comments and explanations about each piece are worth the price of admission. Words cannot describe the beauty of this music,...

It was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back to hear Marsalis say to his audience, "This is jazz at Lincoln Center.' Amazing band and talent!!!
What an incredible venue! I mistakenly thought my tickets were for a 9:30 show instead of 7:30. We arrived at 9 and explained my mistake. The staff was so kind, courteous and willing to help. The performance manager was able to get us seats. (Thank you!!!!)
We saw Bill Frisell w/ The Bad Plus here and the venue is just...

Jazz at Lincoln Center is the epitome of the Jazz scene in a large venue. If you want a smaller place,go to Dizzy's, a small club that invites small groups to play and serves food and drinks. We go every time we are in NY as there is no better place to enjoy good music in a terrific venue.
the performer and his group was charming describing the historic derivation of his set. As much as I liked the music, the auditorium in the round is even better. what a beautiful venue.
We saw Madeleine Peroux, at the Allen Room. The place is so beautiful, the view so espectacular that even if the show were no as great as it was, it would be worth going there. And the acoustics is also splendid.
The only thing that is a minus for first-time visitors is that the "at Lincoln Center" in the name makes one think it is located in the complex of Met, Tully hall etc, but it is actually a few blocks away, on 60th and columbus.
One of the nicest venues for jazz, I've ever seen ( and I've been to a lot). The history of the center exhibit was fascinating. They also have a free pre-concert lecture on a segment of jazz related to that night's concert. Will definitely return when in NYC.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is a great experience. The musicians, led by Winton Marsalis, are outstanding individually and exceptional asa band. The venue is perfrect for the show and the musical selection for the Christams show and the arrangements are outstanding. Highly recommended.
