The kids and I went downtown to the St. Patrick's Day one morning. I thought it would be fun to mix with the locals and see the parade. We parked on the street near the parade route (I think illegally but didn't get a ticket). The parade was great, and it was neat seeing the planes come in right above... More

I do not know why people are keep praising Gaslamp quarter and downtown in general, it is way overrated and offers very little to experience. I mean ok, the area around USS Midway and Seaport village is nice and and a must-see, but you can skip anything else out of this area. Me and my girlfriend also felt very unsafe... More

San Diego is a magnificent city with lots of nice beaches and mountains. Its downtown is not quite up to par with the rest of the city. There are still derelict hotels alongside some of the nicer eating establishments. There are few modern skyscrapers and limited night life outsdie the Gaslamp Quarter. San Diego needs to modernize and clean up... More

Walk from Downtown along the water to Seaport Village for a nice view. Take a ferry ride to Coronado and back.

My family and I walked through downtown (specifically the Gaslamp Quarter) after leaving the USS Midway for me to pick up shirts at Hard Rock Cafe and House of Blues. It was like any other downtown: lots of restaurants, homeless, and people with mental deficiencies roaming about. This was about 4 in the afternoon and the lady at House of... More

The downtown area is one of the nicest in the country. The restaurant and bar scene are particularly active making it a nocturnal attraction not often found in the US. The location of PetCo in the downtown area gives everyone one more reason to pay a visit. The downtown area contributes immensely to the appeal of SD.

A very diverse location, with so many different places to eat, drink, lounge, dance. Nearby is Balboa Park, the Zoo, Seaport Village, the airport. I love it!

This is a beautiful city with much to do. With the Gasllamp district and its wonderful selection of restaurants, the convention center, Petco Park, Seaport Village, Little Italy, the harbor (all within walking distance), how can you miss!

Great place for nightlife, there are many places of different style, there is only spoiled for choice. same goes for restaurants, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and classic American hamburgers. There is also a large shopping center with a cinema

I used to live downtown in the early 90's. It was more fun and had more character then, when it was "seedy!" Now it is "upscale" and everything is pricier but not necessarily better.
