I've seen two shows at the Old Globe and had a great time during each visit. Both shows have been in the enclosed theatre, which has a distinct 60s/70s vibe on the interior, but it doesn't take away from the productions. Seats are comfortable and the house is set up so that there really aren't any bad seats (and their... More

The location is prefect and it is a replica of the Old Globe Theatre in England. They have both old and new plays there.

I have seen many plays over the years. The outdoor theater is my favorite. Go, you will love it! The location in balboa park is a must visit. We go to San Diego several times a year, usually for a month at a time, and never miss a visit to the Old Globe complex.

Almost every play seem to be about family members yelling at each other. Why the Globe keeps putting these on, is beyond me. If it wasn't for my wife, I'd leave the theater within minutes for a least half the plays they put on. Yelling in not "ENTERTAINING"!!!!

I was fortunate enough to be around when the new musical "Allegiance" premiered in San Diego with cast members George Takai and Lea Salonga at the forefront. I had bought tickets on the cheap for myself and my son who was visiting. Not only was the show terrific, but every seat in the house looked like it was a really... More

The Old Globe is one of the leading regional theatres in the U.S. (won the regional Tony a few years back). Many new musicals go from the Globe to Broadway. The Globe stages an excellent Shakespeare festival in the summer (the cast performs three shows in repertory), and the fall through spring season is a feast of classics, contemporary theatre,... We visited the Old Globe theatre to see "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" and it was a wonderful experience. The show was very funny and cleverly written and we both enjoyed it very much. The Old Globe is a beautiful theatre and well worth a visit. We walked across the bridge into Balboa park and all lit up... More

We have been visiting the Old Globe frequently over the last several years. The productions are generally first rate, the theater and seating is intimate and comfortable, and the setting, in Balboa Park, is lovely. What a oleasant way to spend an afternoon or evening.

I saw the world premiere of the play "the Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder". A fantastic play in a fantastic space! It was a little pricey, but worth it. Not to mention all the free things you can do before the play in Balboa Park. Best day of the vacation. Tip- If you come early around 5 o'clock, you... More

The Old Globe in Balboa Park is the premire venue for SanDiego theater and they have multiple options each night from a larger theater to one in the round. There is even a light snack venue outside. Great value for thequaity of the performances.
