The BSO's performances are one of Boston's greatest assets. The talented and well rehearsed musicians are second to none in the United States. Their versatility is prodigious, spanning the classical repertory well into 21st century compositions. With a new outstanding music director the BSO will surely continue to dazzle.

Not only is the full symphonic orchestra world class, but the chamber players four concert per season series is outstanding. The chamber ensamble is composed of first chairs from the full orchestra and plays in Jordan Hall, near Symphony Hall, on four Sunday afternoons each year. We have been season subscribers for many years, and the series is one of... More

Just make sure you are aware of the location of your seat in the theater. We were not adequately informed about the potential for "limited visibility", which means I was seated directly behind a pillar. Fortunately the acoustics were very good!

I lived in Boston during the eighties and the BSO was outstanding. A recent concert however, proved that the legacy has been broken. The orchestra had good intonation but one of the cellos had an out of tune string or the cellist was fingering slightly flat. This is inexcusable in a major symphony orchestra today. Still a decent orchestra but... More

Wonderful sound from a magnificent orchestra. I was less impressed with Symphony Hall with somewhat cramped seating and shortage of bathrooms.

When I was in middle school, I joined band club. I played the trumpet for four years. During my four years in middle school, the school paid for us to attend shows at the BSO. It made me feel special to be in such a grand place as they played the Harry Potter theme music. It definitely helped me appreciate... More

The Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Keith Lockhart is unquestionably one of the country's, if not the world's, best! And it doesn't hurt that Boston's Symphony Hall provides superlative acoustics!

One of the great orchestras in the world, anything better is certainly way above my ability to detect. And, do not overlook it's too fabulous venues: Symphony Hall in Boston with it's fabulous acoustics and Tanglewood, the summer home of the BSO. The latter an out-door treat in the Berkshire mountains in western Mass. Sit in comfortable seats inside the... More

We went to a movie night where John Williams was conducting. Even though the concert was somewhat short and the building, although grand, historic and charming, needs a little refurbishing. But John Williams at Symphony Hall - a must do and chances are that combo is going to get rare.

I've been attending BSO concerts for a number of years. I started with the strained final years of Ozawa's reign, lived through the promise and eventual sadness of Levine's tenure, and have endured the uncertainty of the new music director search, which will be going into its third year. There is no question that the orchestra has world class musicians... More
