The arboretum is a short drive from the town and is well designed and easy to navigate. The Cercis was in full bloom in April and so unlike the tree we have in Europe. A quiet haven.

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to the Arboretum. We enjoyed a couple of nature trails but really enjoyed the bonsai exhibit. This was by far the best part of our experience.

The gardens here are well maintained and fun to see. We loved the Bonsai exhibit- you don't often get to see so many in one place. We like the walks and enjoyed the food at the grill.

Grounds are well maintained; visitors center folks friendly; great place for a bit of exercise and communicating with nature.

I mostly enjoyed my walk along one of the trails which takes your right into the forrest. Squirrels scurrying all around me. Great. Friendly staff

enjoyed a long hike then lunch at the cafe. What a surprise- the cafe serves home made items including gluten free and vegan. Worth going just for lunch.

The day was rainy but we were determined to see the Bonsai exhibit, which was great, although some trees were still inside in winter storage. There was an azalea show indoors, with beautiful specimens. On a nice day,the grounds would be a beautiful place to walk.

Interesting and informative displays of plants of many different types. There are beautiful trails to walk and enjoy being out in the woodland areas. The wildflowers were blooming during my visit, but the planted beds are enough to keep you occupied. I asked lots of questions and everyone was willing to answer. They do offer education sessions which I wish... More

Everything about the Arboretum is great, indoors and out. There is no entrance fee, but costs $8.00 for parking, no big deal. The visitor's center features art shows, special classrooms, and a top-notch cafe. Outdoors the gardens and the bonsai collection are simply beautiful, but the hiking paths in the woods are made of wood chips and medium-sized rocks. Gravel... More

Although it is a fairly new arboretum, it is absolutely beautiful. It is located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, with the mountains in the background. The Bonsai collection is among the best I have ever seen. Truly worth a visit!
