Breathtaking views - it's a beautiful country out there. Would love to have a little sports car to travel in for this scenic drive. I wish I lived in the area so I could travel this route more often. Words cannot describe this lovely ride. Rhododendron where in bloom and the weather was perfect.

We got tired of Interstate driving on our way from Pennsylvania to North Carolina recently, so wife & I took a side trip on a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. It's a WPA Project that was laid out along the top of the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains. There are numerous turn-outs that provide spectacular views of... More

This has always been a dream of mine to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, but the actual experience was not quite what I expected. The first day through the Shenandoah National Park was fantastic but, starting out on the Parkway itself, we were disappointed not to find anywhere to get current information on services. Being Memorial Day weekend I had... More

Drive to Price Lake, it is a beautiful place to stop and eat, or just paddle the lake. Watch for snakes in late June early July in trees around lake. They want bother you, but don't paddle under the trees.

We started in Shenandoah National Park and ended in Smoky Mountain National Park and drove the entire Blue Ridge Parkway in between! We had a wonderful trip. Our vacation was the first week of June and we had some great flower displays. We saw Catawba Rhododendron, Flame Azaleas and Mountain Laurels, mostly in the lower elevations. But the higher elevations... More

If you are in the area don't miss it. Don't expect your GPS to work and bring a map and some good bluegrass music!

This road takes for ever to get nowhere but you will never forget the journey. My mom used to tell its not the destination but the journey getting there. Well that is the Blue Ridge Parkway. We visit Mt. Mitchell State Park and Craggy Gardens along the Parkway. It was a rainy day but you could tell it was a... More
