My husband was so excited to visit this area, but mainly we ended up disappointed. First, it is so hard to locate each place, and then when you finally do, half or more are closed, or you need an appointment. One artist said that most are not that interested in visitors because they mainly just like to be in their... More

Lots of people showing their passion for art in this less obvious part of town. Beautiful architecture.

Every medium of art you can imagine and surprisingly great food choices from White Duck Tacos to 12 Bones BBQ, where even Obama had to come and eat ribs before leaving the area!

Some talented people. There is some difficult walking home over rough sidewalks though. You have to drive from studio to studio for the most part. If you're in Asheville it's a fun place to spend a couple of hours.

There are too many studios to visit in just one weekend. So, plan accordingly and stop by those of the most interest to you. Filled with artist's studios. restaurants, entertainment venues, etc. and just minutes from downtown, the RAD is a must-see when you're in the area.

We recently spent an afternoon strolling through the River Arts District where we visited with several artists in their galleries and studios. It was a delight to watch them work and talk to them about their inspiration and goals. This makes purchasing art so much more personal. Wear comfortable shoes. The galleries cover quite a large area.

We passed through the River Arts District as part of a trolley tour. We are not true patrons of the arts and so were not prompted to return ... except to dine at the Twelve Bones Barbeque. For those interested in art, the area looked to be both fascinating and widely varied. We would encourage artsy folk to make this... More

The Asheville Rivers Arts district gets better and better with each visit. I beleive as the economy continues to recover your will see more artists being able to survive here. We love the area.

This is a historic industrial section between downtown Asheville and the French Broad River. Over 180 of the best artists in the region have their studios in this district. Here you'll find ceramics, jewelry, furniture, painting, fiber arts, encaustic, chair caning and more! There are monthly events on each Second Saturday, but many studios are open daily. If you get...
