High view point on north Saipan to view ocean and another notable cliff, Bansai, a WWII historical site. This is a great place to bicycle down from past the Grotto and the Last Japanese Command Post. There are also numerous hiking trails near this attraction.

A factual-historical correction in response to "GrantMuir's" review - "Well, what can I say..." The cliffs where NOT "Where local people used to jump off to get away from Japanese soldiers concentratuon camps..." They were where island residents jumped to their deaths to escape what they had been (incorrectly) told by the occupying Japanese soldiers, the raping and murdering invading... More

Well, what can I say, it's a cliff edge where local people used to jump of to get away from the Japanese soldiers concentration camps on the island. You can't actually see that much except for forestry, bushes and what not. There is a memorial statue located next to the cliff, but I'm afraid that's about it.

Beautiful views, crashing waves, salty wind. Many many small monuments. Truly a moving place. Hundreds if not thousands of Japanese jumped to their deaths here when the Americans landed in WWII. The island was a Japanese possession at the time. There are descendents who are there visiting and paying tribute to their fallen ancestors. Very cordial people, please be respectful... More

A must see. Sad to think what happened here. Interesting memorial markers. i only visited once as the saddness of the site was almost overwhelming you can almost feel the ghosts. I visited in June 2003 but had to list a date in 2011 to post here.

WO 2 in its worst form. Information by the authorities made 8000 people jump to their death. You still feel the suffering of those left behind and the despair of the locals in a terrible war.

Nice view of the north end of the island -- looks out over Banzai Cliff and the Last Japanese Command Post. A trail takes off from here -- if you take it be careful of the cliff edge! This was an important WWII site.
